My reading habits
The television was on and my hands were busy typing – yet I could use a part of my brain thinking of something else. In fact, when I think about it now, I was basically cheating myself by sitting in front of the laptop – the fact is that I was thinking more than doing anything else.
What was I thinking – you might ask. Naah, for once, it was not ‘What else do I do to make things even better for my company. Instead it was ‘blogging’ – the subject of my thought process. I remember, I used to be a real bad listener (I still don’t do a very good job at it) till a few years back. I have always been more of a speaker than a listener – somebody known to speak a lot, somebody who has an opinion about anything and everything. And something that I absolutely sucked at was – reading. I used to read stuff which was absolutely essential for me to read – nothing more. Till a year back – I could count the number of novels that I had read.
Things have changed in the last few years because of variety of reasons and more so in the last few months. The biggest change that I notice is my reading habits. No, I still don’t read a lot of novels – though I can say that I do read novels. But, yes, I read a lot many blogs – about 30 every day. In fact, this is actually a very welcome change – I have a lot more information about things happening in the world, particulary on the technology front. I really feel that it’s a part of my job to keep abreast with the technology innovations and changes and blogs do help a lot in this.
But why such a change – I ask myself. It’s, definitely, not just work since I read blogs that are not only technology-related but also on random and personal stuff. I can think of an answer. People have known me to be one with a lot of energy – that has been, more than often, my distinguishing factor. So, when I was in a ‘job’ – I used to resort to techniques like speaking a lot, organizing a lot of things, and sports to release my energy. But now that I use most of it working and thinking for Tekriti, other passive things like ‘blogs’ come into picture.
Now, did I touch a nerve by calling ‘blogging’ to be passive?
Note to self: It’s 2.15 in the night – time to go to bed!
