I had been travelling!
More time has elapsed than I wanted since I blogged last. I got busy travelling with little time to actually sit in front of the computer and write something. All I was doing was to check my emails and answering the really important ones, some of the more pressing ones by phone.
I travelled to Belgaum to visit my sister and brother-in-law. I had never been to the place before but it was very opposite to what I had imagined. I had imagined it to be a typical south-indian place – very clean, south-indian dressing style, getting to hear many languages that I won’t be able to make any sense of, and the sometimes-yummy south indian dishes. But, no, Belgaum by virtue of being a border city of Karnataka and Maharashtra is not a typical south indian place. It did offer the cleanliness prevalent in that part of the country and the yummy south indian food but is more like any small North Indian place in many senses. I found Hindi to be a more popular language there than Kannada or Tamil and the people were very very friendly. In traditional dresses, the north-indian dresses are more common (at least, in the market) than the south-indian ones.
Note to self: Next time when you want to go to Goa – fly to Belgaum first, go around the place a little more and then make a road-trip to Goa from there, which is just 4 hours drive.
